This release note describes patch SG0000020 to IRIX 5.2.
2. _H_a_r_d_w_a_r_e__p_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s__s_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d
This patch to IRIX 5.2 supports all configurations supported
by IRIX 5.2.
3. _B_u_g__f_i_x_e_d__b_y__p_a_t_c_h__S_G_0_0_0_0_0_2_0
This patch contains fixes for the following problem in IRIX
5.2 (bug numbers from SGI bug tracking system are included
for reference):
+o Bug #211747: mbufs not deallocated when using TPI
(Transport Provider Interface). The symptom is that the
_n_e_t_s_t_a_t -_m command shows large number of mbufs in use
for options. The value will grow by one each time an
application performs an option negotiation on a
connection after it has been accepted. An example of
such an application is the SYBASE database server.
4. _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__i_n_s_t_r_u_c_t_i_o_n_s
Patches are not installed by default since it is unknown
which patches address the problems you have encountered.
After reading the release notes describing the bugs fixed,
determine the set of patches which meet your specific needs.
Patches are installed like any other Silicon Graphics
product. Use your Owner's Guide and/or Software
Installation Guide to bring up the "miniroot" form of the
software installation tools. To select a patch for
installation type:
Inst> install patchSG0000020
After selecting the desired patches for installation, type
"go" to initiate the installation sequence.
Inst> go
After completion of the installation process, type "quit" to
quit from inst.
Inst> quit

You may find that two patches have been marked as
incompatible. If this occurs, you must unselect one of the
patches.
Inst> keep patchSG0000020
Ultimately you may decide after installing a patch that you
no longer want it. To remove a patch use "versions remove"
as you would any other software subsystem. The removal
process will reinstate the original version of software
unless you have purposefully removed the patch history from
your system.
versions remove patchSG0000020
If you are confident that you will not need to remove a
particular patch and wish to regain the disk space, use
"versions removehist" to remove the patch history.

Patch SG0000020 contains the following subsystem:
+o _p_a_t_c_h_S_G_0_0_0_0_0_2_0._e_o_e_1__s_w._s_v_r_4_n_e_t Contains a fixed
_t_p_i_s_o_c_k_e_t._a kernel module.
The kernel must be rebuilt and rebooted for this patch to
take effect.
