  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000020 to IRIX 5.2.

  15.        This patch to IRIX 5.2 supports all configurations supported
  16.        by IRIX 5.2.

  21.        This patch contains fixes for the following problem in IRIX
  22.        5.2 (bug numbers from SGI bug tracking system are included
  23.        for reference):

  25.           +o Bug #211747: mbufs not deallocated when using TPI
  26.             (Transport Provider Interface). The symptom is that the
  27.             _n_e_t_s_t_a_t -_m command shows large number of mbufs in use
  28.             for options. The value will grow by one each time an
  29.             application performs an option negotiation on a
  30.             connection after it has been accepted. An example of
  31.             such an application is the SYBASE database server.

  34.        4.  _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__i_n_s_t_r_u_c_t_i_o_n_s

  37.        Patches are not installed by default since it is unknown
  38.        which patches address the problems you have encountered.
  39.        After reading the release notes describing the bugs fixed,
  40.        determine the set of patches which meet your specific needs.
  41.        Patches are installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  42.        product.  Use your Owner's Guide and/or Software
  43.        Installation Guide to bring up the "miniroot" form of the
  44.        software installation tools.  To select a patch for
  45.        installation type:

  47.           Inst> install patchSG0000020
  48.  
  49.        After selecting the desired patches for installation, type
  50.        "go" to initiate the installation sequence.

  52.           Inst> go

  54.        After completion of the installation process, type "quit" to
  55.        quit from inst.

  74.        You may find that two patches have been marked as
  75.        incompatible.  If this occurs, you must unselect one of the
  76.        patches.

  80.        Ultimately you may decide after installing a patch that you
  81.        no longer want it.  To remove a patch use "versions remove"
  82.        as you would any other software subsystem.  The removal
  83.        process will reinstate the original version of software
  84.        unless you have purposefully removed the patch history from
  85.        your system.

  89.        If you are confident that you will not need to remove a
  90.        particular patch and wish to regain the disk space, use
  91.        "versions removehist" to remove the patch history.

  98.        Patch SG0000020 contains the following subsystem:

  101.             _t_p_i_s_o_c_k_e_t._a kernel module.
  102.        The kernel must be rebuilt and rebooted for this patch to
  103.        take effect.
